about us
What is FabLab Cuenca?
"FAB LAB" stands for Fabrication Laboratory — a space where anyone can turn ideas into reality using professional digital fabrication tools.
FabLab Cuenca has been running courses, workshops, events and demonstrations in Cuenca and across the Castilla-La Mancha region since 2015. Our main goal is to reduce the digital divide — making technology, creativity and making accessible to everyone, regardless of background or experience.
We are equipped with 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, digital embroidery machines, cutting plotters and more. But above all, we are a team of professionals who believe in the power of learning by doing — and in the positive social impact that a fab lab can have on its community.

From the "Open Source" culture, based on the concept of sharing knowledge and promoting the open exchange of ideas, we intend tocreate a social and technological impact by empowering the citizens of Cuenca (and the region) through new technologies, recycling and creativity. Our objective isbecome an educational and creative tool open to all audiences, through a spirit based on collaboration, technology and shared knowledge.
our pillars
our pillars
At FabLab Cuenca, as a space for work, study and development of socio-technological projects, we will create different activities that reinforce the diffusion, the understanding of digital manufacturing and the use of new technologies.FabLab Cuenca's mission is to make known how to apply new technologies through a program that will share the principles that identify FabLabs, in these areas:
education
Stimulating, particularly among the youngest, interest in art, science and technology. Using a different approach, oriented towards practice and shared experience, which enhances creativity and innovation.
innovation
Digital manufacturing strengthens society's ability to transform raw materials by adapting to the environment. In addition, a FabLab favors the growth of the ecosystem of entrepreneurs because it provides anyone with an innovative idea with the means to develop it and test its prototype.
investigation
Personal manufacturing allows the adaptation of the product to the needs of the demand. Digital fabrication laboratories open the way to personal fabrication and sharing among professionals, creating new relationships between people with different concerns and abilities to develop projects.
development
Digital manufacturing makes it easy for the user to manufacture the product according to their own needs. Its focus on the community in which it is located allows projects to be launched that meet the specific needs of different groups.

who is it for?

Delia
Millán Martínez
Director and founder of FabLab Cuenca / American Space Quixote
She has recently represented Spain in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), the US State Department's flagship professional exchange programme for Women Leaders in STEM. In 2018 she was selected by the Advanced Leadership Foundation as one of Spain's leaders in Technological Innovation

She has worked as a Research Associate at the University of Ulster (UK), within the Intelligent Systems Research Centre, on the Serious Games and Virtual Worlds team. Since 2012 her experience has focused on Digital Fabrication and FabLabs, and she has been responsible for the development and implementation of numerous FabLab projects. Her work has always been oriented towards both education and community empowerment — as demonstrated by programmes such as Mujeres Makers, STEAM Teacher and FabLab Itinerante, where STEAM education and digital practices are applied to support community transformation through digital creativity and personal skills development. Her experience has consistently focused on new approaches to learning through technology, and on how to share knowledge for the benefit of society.

Mickaël
Pitarresi
Laboratory Technical Director and activities coordinator
Mickaël is co-founder of FabLab Cuenca and has been part of the team since 2015. As a technician and expert in digital fabrication, he advises on a wide range of design, creation and research projects. Born in the south of France, he initially trained as a maintenance and facilities technician before spending fourteen years in the UK, where he studied animation techniques, music technology and other practices related to digital art and media production. During this time he was also involved in a variety of workshops, media productions and live performances. He graduated with Honours in Design for Creative Practice from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ulster (UK), and was selected to spend a year at the Bauhaus University in Weimar, Germany. During his studies he received several awards and commendations. His personal aim is to share the possibilities of digital tools and personal fabrication techniques with the wider community — always approaching challenges with an open and creative mind, and looking for ways that technology can contribute to solving both old and new problems in the world. In 2026, Mickaël joined the global instructor support team for FabAcademy, the prestigious international master's programme in digital fabrication directed by Neil Gershenfeld of MIT — making FabLab Cuenca the first FabAcademy node in Castilla-La Mancha.
